Yr7 and Yr 9 Visit the Balmoral for STEM Workshops

On Wednesday and Thursday this week Year 9 and Year 7 respectively, got the opportunity to take part in a STEM based day on the topic of Forces and Lifting on the Balmoral, next to the M Shed on Bristol Harbor side. The event, organised by My Future My Choice was an amazing opportunity for students to work with Engineers from businesses including Skanska on practical science and technology tasks. They explored the wider skills needed for success in both life and work. They took part in team challenges to design and build a hydraulic arm and then competed against each other in lifting and moving tasks. The students had a great time and even got to operate one of the historic cranes that dominate the skyline on the old docks. For more information on the Balmoral, or if you are interested in seeing the cranes in action, visit their website at
