Physical Education

The Physical Education Department aims to provide a healthy, enjoyable, satisfying and balanced programme with opportunities for every student to reach their full potential across physical, emotional and social health. A comprehensive, balanced and differentiated range of activities and experiences within the National Curriculum guidelines is planned to meet the needs of all students and encourage them to remain active into their adult lives. The PE curriculum develops and assesses pupils’ abilities, physically, cognitively, socially, and creatively.

Physical education continues as a compulsory subject throughout the school with each student receiving at least three hours of PE a fortnight and in most cases four hours a fortnight. Furthermore there is a wide ranging and comprehensive extra-curricular programme on offer, including Football, Netball, Gymnastics, Dance, Basketball, Rugby, Cheerleading, Boxing, Cricket and Rounders.

The department actively encourages parental involvement and community participation by students and fosters links with local clubs and other organisations to enhance the opportunities for students to continue with physical activity away from school and promote lifelong participation.
