Patchway Community School

2019 GCSE results!

Patchway Community School students are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results with almost a third of students achieving the more challenging ‘strong pass’ (grades 5-9) in both English and Mathematics. 62% of students achieved grades 4-9 in English, with many now continuing onto the school’s post 16 centre where students also enjoyed a 100% pass rate this year.

There were several outstanding individual performances:

  • Jamie Harding achieved grade 9s in English and religious studies, as well as grade 8 in mathematics, physics and chemistry, and grade 7 in three other subjects.
  • Erin Thomas achieved grade 9 in photography, grade 8 in English and a further five grade 7s.
  • Rebecca Seaman was awarded grade 8 in mathematics, English and photography, alongside a grade 7 in chemistry and four grade 6s.
  • Matilde Farinha achieved a grade 9 in religious studies and was awarded grade 8 in her other 8 subjects including English language and literature, triple sciences, French, history and psychology, and a further grade 7.

Headteacher, Karen Cornick, commented "Congratulations to all of our students on a very positive set of GCSE results. There is a continued upward trend of high performances at Patchway, reflecting the effort and determination of our students and staff and the support of Olympus which is now being reflected in student outcomes. Thanks also to our staff for their continued hard work and commitment and also parents and carers for the confidence they have placed in us and the support they have given our young people to achieve these results.”

Once again, there are some excellent individual outcomes from students at Patchway Community School. Congratulations to them and to all students who achieved what they need for their next steps in September. With the significant improvements to the buildings and working environment that have been completed this year, the school is poised for future success with support from the Trust."
